Types of things we say:

*   "Get out!" Elaine likes to say this to Jerry. But it is neither true nor false! It is an order.

*   "How so?" This is neither true nor false either. It is a question.

*   "Yippee!" Not true either. An exclamation.

*   "I am tired of this."  Well, now that is true -- could be false, but at the time you say it what you mean by it is either true or false but not both true and false. You can say it at different times, or other people can say it, but .... well, yes, I know. YOU ARE TIRED OF THIS. So let's move on....

Statements we make that are true or false say something we can check to see if it is true or false. That is, a true or false statement will relate a subject to a predicate.

"John is here."

I can check if this is true or false by looking to see if everything I mean by "John" is also a member of the set of things I consider "here."

How many ways can I relate a subject to a predicate?
