Notes on Introduction to the Humanities -- Hum A212 William Jamison - Instructor Lecture 20 http://www.anchoragemuseum.org/changing_exb.asp New Realism: http://www.centrepompidou.fr/education/ressources/ENS-newrea-EN/ENS-newrea-EN.htm A tour through our own museum's current changing exhibits. We also looked at the "Salmon Derby" where local groups sponsor or create "fish" to decorate the town during the summer. This discussion could also be a follow up of Fredric Jameson's "End of Art" piece. Is he right to say that our art does represent our current spiritual connection with the divine? That is, does art still achieve the sublime in Hegel's terms? If so, what does this tell us about our highest values, our dreams, our view of utopia? A discussion on the usefulness of AHH as a text for the course.
