Syllabus supplement Tests for Truth, Beauty, and Goodness -- Phil A231 William Jamison - Instructor Test 3Directions: Answer any three of the questions below in three essays. Essays may be as long as you feel necessary, but must be at least 300 words each, and should demonstrate an understanding of the main point of the question and it's relevance for us today. Avoid plagiarism! They should be e-mailed to: wsjamison@UAA.ALASKA.EDU. 1. How are definitions both helpful and misleading when trying to understand the nature of beauty? 2. Can aesthetic education improve our moral character? 3. How does art express truth? 4. Contrast the exploitive use of female beauty with the concept of role equality in society. 5. Analyze the view that there is a difference in ethical perspectives between males and females using Wittgenstein's methods. 6. Is there an absolute truth?
