The best narrative would be the best operating system as measured by accomplishments --- think of the metaphor of Microsoft or Mac as a comparison or DOS 1 -- DOS 9? Notice how they have evolved to improve though they have also become more complex. So then are we trying to teach kids the best operating system for their minds to operate in the world they will live in? p. 173. Aristotle on common sense. I pointed out the interesting association of common sense as a sense that unites the working of all our senses. p. 174 clock on wall? Weather? Seasons? What does Wittgenstein mean here? Notice that most everyone described the Tooth fairy in a way that matches a particular model in popular imagination. Hogwarts school song....some readers get too carried away while reading. Compare how your imagination depicts a book with the way a movie might do it. I received some interesting comments on this one. p. 175 language games work hand in hand together! p. 177 Nothing is more difficult than facing concepts without prejudice. I used several quotes from Holmes in Louis Menand's book THE METAPHYSICAL CLUB. Subject: image Hume: doesn't this mean there is no truth? And Berkeley ? What is a higher being? Good dialogue question -- what would it mean to refer to 5 o'clock on the sun? See this quote on truth by Einstein.
