Since after Rousseau (at least) there are Christian sects influenced by the idea that Christian Love concerns the mundane comforts of the poor. This is clearly not reflected in early Christian Art and when it does in later art it is not the same sort of Christian Art at all. The emphasis on accurately depicting reality comes along with this change in focus toward the mundane.
